– Hi, I’m Betty, the floral power behind Little Flower Florist. –
I’m a Brightonian living in Eastbourne – although Brighton still has my heart!
I’ve loved flowers all my life. This all started as a child, where I spent countless summers at my grandparents’ cornish house on the cliff. The garden felt huge, and it had little secret areas filled to the brim with Roses, Crocosmia, Wild Primroses, big blousy Hydrangeas and oddly shaped beds full of seasonal stems.
Even as a child, I felt at home with a pair of scissors cutting a little colourful posy filled with a delicious scent, and popping it into one of Nanna Maggie’s many vessels.
Years later, I get to create bountiful, romantic wedding flowers for couples, all around Sussex and beyond!
You’re also probably asking yourself…BUT why the business name Little Flower Florist? Well, my lovely grandad always used to refer to me and my sisters as his little flowers! And that is how the name came about.
Things I love
I’m a pisces so I love everything water – especially the deep blue sea. I find cold-water swimming and a sauna the best way to unwind.
I also have a weirdly obsessive love for fruit – my family used to call me a “fruitarian”. You will also always find me foraging when outside, I love finding free food in nature.
I’m a total nature nerd, and can name most veg, fruit, flowers and trees.
I have a magical child called Ferny and a lab X collie called Dusty, and I love her as much as she loves squirrels.
My work and ethos
I strive to be as eco-friendly as possible in order to do my bit for the planet. My little business was awarded as a ‘Plastic Free Champion’ by Surfers Against Sewage. I love to use British flowers whenever I can, sourcing many from local flower farms and growers.
“Betty was an absolute dream to work with! She took my already wild and creative ideas and turned them into the most stunning floral arrangements I’ve ever seen. Every detail was perfect — from the bouquet to the table arrangements.”
